My husband and I have been blessed to call Snohomish, Washington, home since 1990. We have raised two sons in our wonderful community.
I was introduced to fiber arts at the age of eight by my grandmother with her Kenmore sewing machine and scrap box. It was then that I fell in love with making things that bring joy to others. I have been creating and striving to bring joy ever since, in every field of work I enter. I started out as a cosmetologist, enjoying hair and nail design for fifteen years. Next, I became a phlebotomist, where I created a trusting and pleasant environment for my patients. Later, I worked in aromatherapy as a production manager, making amazing products that made people feel better. In addition, I have enjoyed the privilege of being a guest teacher at local cosmetology schools, homeschool teacher to my boys, and craft activities teacher from preschool to high school age students. Currently, I am teaching wool flower-making classes at Board and Brush Creative Studio in Snohomish, WA.
Jenny Lynn Wool Creations was born from my traditional rug hooking hobby. Traditional rug hooking is a type of fiber art that uses wool strips that are pulled through a foundation material like linen, rug warp, monk’s cloth, or burlap; this is done with a special hook. The finished product may be a rug, wall hanging, pillow, or many other possibilities. These projects often include different media, textures, and appliqué. I began making wool flowers for applique, and one thing led to another. Now, I am living a dream, making gorgeous wool flowers and sharing that gift with others. Watching a student light up when they have created something beautiful, which they previously thought they were incapable of, is simply amazing, and I love it!
In addition to teaching classes locally, I am excited to be a member of the Snohomish Farmers Market Association, where I participate as a vendor during the regular market season that runs from May to October. Being involved in my community is very rewarding. I am privileged to serve as secretary on the Snohomish Farmers Market Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 term. I am also serving as vice president on the Region 11, Chapter 77 ATHA Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 term. Both positions have stretched me in beneficial ways and have allowed me to give back to my community. What an enormous blessing that is!
The teacher has become the student. In June of 2025, I began courses at the Western McGown Teachers’ Workshop in Oregon. The Teachers’ Workshop program is designed for individuals interested in becoming teachers to further their education and knowledge in all aspects of the craft of tapestry rug hooking. I look forward to continuing to share my love of rug hooking with others and one day offering classes for those who desire to improve their techniques.
